Public Events

The Lakeland Horticultural Society is a charity whose aims are to promote the art and science of horticulture and good gardening practice. Its lectures are open to all, free of charge unless otherwise stated. Public Lectures are now held at the Marchesi Centre, Windermere, LA23 2AF where seating is limited to 90.

Paint the garden with Frances Davenport

 

Be inspired by Holehird Garden and our highly regarded artist to create a picture of the garden.

Receive instruction and advice for sketching and painting with lots of time to sketch and paint around the gardens. Indoor space is available in case of rain.

Participants need to bring their own equipment and preferred materials.

Enjoy the time and space to be creative and receive professional review and advice.

Herb Workshop with Jennifer Moffett

 

Discover the individual aromatic delights of mints and other herbs. Find out more about their uses especially in the kitchen.

Find out how to cultivate and propagate them, then take home a new plant or a cutting to nurture.

Suitable for all ages 6 - 106! Also for those with limited mobility. Weather permitting most of the workshop will take place around the herb beds in the walled garden.
