Our Gardens in June

Practical Gardening Course

A full day course led by Louise Stoddart and Shelagh Todd at Holehird Gardens, Patterdale Road, Windermere. LA23 1NP 

Thursday 23rd June 2022 at Holehird Gardens from 10.30 – 16.00  

Louise & Shelagh are both experienced horticulturists who teach at The School of Horticulture based near Penrith in North Cumbria. They are very familiar with the wonderful gardens at Holehird as they have both taught a wide variety of courses at Holehird over the last 30 years when they were employed by Newton Rigg College (sadly closed down in July 2021). They are both passionate plantswomen and describe the gardens at Holehird as a “Plantsperson’s Paradise”.

Course Content

· Practical demonstrations on what we should be propagating and pruning at the end of June in our gardens in Cumbria.

· A morning and afternoon garden walk and talk to look at, admire and discuss a range of seasonal garden plants. Also to look at new projects in the gardens.

· A lecture and discussion on what tasks we should be carrying out in our gardens in June and what we should be doing to plan for the months ahead.

Numbers are limited to 15

Cost £25        Tea/coffee/biscuits provide – please bring your own lunch.

Wear suitable outdoor clothing and stout shoes. You may wish to bring a notepad, pen and camera.
