What should I be doing in the garden now?

Find out on Saturday 22 February 2020, 10.00 - 15.30 at Holehird Gardens

This is the first of 4 seasonal courses which will be run at Holehird throughout 2020, each focusing on the jobs and plants which need particular attention at that time of year.

In February:

  • Discover which plants thrive in Lakeland conditions and how to plan for colour and texture in late winter and early spring;
  • Understand the importance of ground preparation, including feeding, mulching, positioning and supporting plants;
  • Plan your plant and seed collections and learn how to plant shrubs and sow seeds;
  • Learn how to recognise which plants need pruning, cutting back or dividing at this time of year;
  • Practice these skills during the day so you are able to transfer them into your gardening at home.

Louise Stoddart, Lecturer in Horticulture at Newton Rigg and Head Gardener at Quarryhill House will share techniques, tips and advice to help you garden effectively at this time of year and plan for the future.

Cost: £25 for LHS members, £43 for non-members which includes membership of the LHS.
