Marchesi Centre, Windermere, LA23 2AF

For thirty years John Mitchell has held a key position in the Alpine world.  As well as his main responsibility as Garden Supervisor of the Alpine Society of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh, he is the local convenor of the Edinburgh and Lothian Scottish Rock Garden Club and on the RHS Joint Rock Plant Committee.  He visited Holehird recently as part of the RHS gentian trial inspection team and also knows some of our members through his chairmanship of the Meconopsis Group.  He has led tours to China, Tibet and Afghanistan and can speak knowledgeably about many aspects of curation, collection and cultivation.
