Cally Gardens, near Gatehouse of Fleet in Dumfries and Galloway, was created by the famous plant collector Michael Wickenden. Since 2018 it has been in the care of plantsman and ecologist Kevin Hughes. Kevin will talk about the gardens and his work in restoring them.
Cally is known for its unusual perennials and included among 4000+ plants are stunning collections of magnolias, daphnes and trilliums, brought to the garden by Kevin, together with other collections he has since added including galanthus, paeonies and a wonderful array of nerines.
The lecture is open to non-members as well as members of the LHS.
